Outreach services

Saoirse Service

Saoirse Service is a partnership service with Liber8, where we provide the support for domestic abuse and Liber8 provide the support for problematic substance use recovery. This service provides comprehensive support for women with lived experience of domestic abuse and problematic substance use, whether past or present. It also supports those at risk of relapse due to the trauma of an abusive relationship.

Referrals can be made by any service, with the woman’s permission, or by the woman herself. They can be completed by visiting or calling the office, or by filling out the Outreach referral form, ensuring any additional support needs related to problematic substance use are noted.

There are two Saoirse Support Workers and one Peer Support Worker within the WASLER side of Saoirse. This provides person-centred support, focusing on the woman’s self-identified priorities for her future. The Peer Support Worker offers practical support and facilitates groups where women in recovery can connect with others, participate in activities, receive support, and build friendships as they work toward the future they envision for themselves.

You can find more information on the website: Liber8 | Saoirse. You can also find the Saoirse Instagram page here, and the Facebook page here.

Caledonian Women’s Service

The Caledonian Women’s Service is a partnership between WASLER, South Lanarkshire Criminal Justice Social Work, and Circle. WASLER provides women’s workers, social workers within the criminal justice sector support men, and Circle delivers services for children and young people.

The women’s workers provide support and advocate for women who are current or former partners of men convicted of domestic abuse and sentenced to a community payback order with a Caledonian component for two years. Women can choose to receive ongoing support throughout the order or remain a passive case, accessing support if needed during that time. Any new partners of the man during the order can also choose to receive support and will be contacted by one of the three women’s workers to discuss their needs and options.

You can find out more here: Caledonian System - South Lanarkshire Council.
